CHAMONIX VALLEY AND MONT-BLANC AREA WEATHER FORECAST
Eugène Delacroix, La Liberté guidant le peuple
ISSUED AT 20:40 ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 08, 2016
VALID FROM : MONDAY FEBRUARY 08 -- UNTIL : SUNDAY FEBRUARY 14 2016

GENERAL SYNOPSIS
Series of stormy low systems crossing over the Northern Atlantic, Newfoundland to Southern Scandinavia, sometimes further south, will continue to cause bad weather over the Alps until the end of the week. • The 964 hpa low, which is responsible for the storm currently hitting the British Isles and Brittany, became almost stationary in Shetland's eastern vicinity. Linked disturbance will be crossing over the Alps overnight, driven by a very strong westerly stream, and causing light rain in the valley below 1500 m. • Speedy minimum deepening far off Brittany's coast will cross over Northern France towards 980 hpa on Tuesday morning, wich will considerably worsen condition on Tuesday afternoon here, it's linked cold front being likely to triggering heavy snowfall at low altitude over the area. • Given the high power and development velocity of these phenomena, it is advisable to stay posted on how they evolve.
